PCC Markets & Food Bank News
Just over two years ago PCC Market West Seattle branch decided to temporarily close its doors to make room for a new fancy store with condos above it, parking below, etc...Like so many others here in West Seattle we missed this market looked forward seeing it rebuilt. We would drive by it every week looking at the progress of the building. Last year I even stopped to talk to the construction crew guys to give me a progress report on the building....And finally it's here! To tell you the truth, I am stunned at how much nicer the new store is. The design of the building itself and layout of the store is very well thought out. It's nice to see several familiar faces too. Some of the same workers from two years ago are back.
PCC is not just any market. They donate 45,000 lbs of food per month to the West Seattle Food Bank. The food goes to low income families, or really anyone who needs it. Check out their website and donate to the WS Food Bank. The people who work there and volunteers are some of the finest people in our community.
